A strong union needs skills, benefits and ACTION!
To meet the current and future needs of the industry, the Carpenters union regularly participates in a variety of recruiting and training efforts, including pre-apprenticeships. The NASRCC Sisters in the Brotherhood recently completed pre-apprenticeships at several training centers in New York. The pre-apprentice program has graduated more than 100 women since it began in 2015, and this program helps open that door for those who complete it.
“It was a complete change for me. I worked desk jobs. I was in an office my whole career,” said Ashley Flansburg.
Flansburg decided to leave that job behind, and instead explore the field of construction. “I was interested in carpentry, and I really wanted to get into it. And they offered this women’s class.”
Congratulations to all the graduates and those who have been elected to enter directly into full apprenticeships through the North Atlantic States Carpenters Training Fund.
