A strong union needs skills, benefits and ACTION!
Allison Foy, now a first-year apprentice with Local 276 in Western New York, is a graduate of the Sisters in the Brotherhood (SIB) pre-apprenticeship program.
After graduating from the program, Allison found herself on a path she never expected, working as an apprentice for Buffalo Interior Supplies and achieving milestones she once thought were beyond her reach.
She credits the SIB program for not only giving her the skills needed to succeed as a carpenter but also the confidence to push her boundaries. Now, she hopes that more women will seize this opportunity.
Reflecting on her career journey, she shares:
“I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunity that the Sisters in the Brotherhood provided for me, and for the other women in my classes. I never thought I’d be a carpentry apprentice, but these classes gave me the opportunity to do so. I’m now a full time apprentice, working with Buffalo Interior Supplies, accomplishing things I’ve never thought I’d be capable of. I hope more women take advantage of this opportunity, so they are able to learn valuables skills and grow from this program as I have.”
