A strong union needs skills, benefits and ACTION!
Carpenters endorsed Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll for Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts. Mayor Driscoll joined members and leaders of the union yesterday for an event announcing the endorsement at the union’s regional headquarters in Dorchester.
Local 339 Regional Manager Kevin Kelley cited the relationship between the mayor and members living in the Salem area that goes back years, saying she never hesitated to help the union make connections with developers and other community partners. He called her experience unique in that, as the wife of a union bricklayer, she understood the daily issues carpenters confront on the job and in their family lives.
Executive Secretary-Treasurer Joe Byrne agreed, saying “The Carpenters union is proud of our long-standing relationship with Mayor Kim Driscoll. We appreciate the time and effort she’s put into understanding our industry, our members and what’s important to us. More than that, she’s always sought ways to help us improve the industry and the lives of working construction workers. Mayor Driscoll is an experienced and effective leader who will make an excellent lieutenant governor. We are proud to endorse her and look forward to supporting her on the campaign trail and at the ballot box.”
