A strong union needs skills, benefits and ACTION!
When Sebastian was a teenager, he worked alongside his mother doing construction work. Although it was physically demanding, he liked working with his hands, and being able to see the finished product that he and his mother created. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Two years ago, he picked up a flyer about the carpentry apprenticeship program, attended the information session that month in Albany, and hasn’t looked back since.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Sebastian is now a 2nd year apprentice in Local 291 and is working for Shades Contracting in Troy, NY.
“I bounce out of bed in the morning because I love my job! To me, carpentry is really creative and fun. It feels good to be able to see the work you’ve created daily and for years to community in your community.”
Sebastian says to anyone thinking about pursuing a career in carpentry “give it a try, attend an information session and go from there!”⠀⠀
